Conditions of Trade for the Apple Market, Covent Garden Market
Merchandise
Traders are permitted to sell only those items that the management have agreed in advance. Any new products must be submitted for approval prior to being displayed. Failure to comply with this rule may result in the trader not being permitted to trade at the arts and crafts market again. Traders will be selected for the Apple Market on the suitability of their product and the Management’s decision is final.
Displays
A high standard of display is expected of traders using the Apple Market stalls and barrows. All traders must have a presentable cloth (backdrop) to cover their entire stall, from the base of the globe light to the floor. Barrow displays must not be built no higher than 36 inches (3ft or 91.44 cm).
The Management reserve the right at all times to bring to a trader’s attention any aspect of a display which is considered unacceptable and/or not in keeping with the nature of the Apple Market.
Storage of personal items should be out of sight from the general public. All trunks and boxes must be stored away and not visible at any time. Newspapers, magazines, cups and water bottles no longer required must be placed in the bins provided.
The Stall
The bottom flap folds up to top platform, leaving a small area (1.65m x 0.65m ground space) at front of the stall

Electricity supply
Lights are permitted for use; any lights used to be low voltage, a maximum of 100 watts per stall, (i.e. 3 x 20 watts). A three point round pin plug is required.
Storage
Off site storage is provided by The Box Office, for information please contact Brendan Muldowney on 020 7735 3663. Storage trunks should not be left in a position that might be hazardous to passers by. Storage trunks must be closed and stowed away by 10.30 am. Storage trunks and boxes must be stored under the stall or barrow during Trading Hours and must not be left in any position that might cause a hazard to any visitors. The Management will not be held responsible if any visitor or trader damages any personal belongings on or in the trunks.
Fees
The Management defines the daily licence fees according to the time of year.
Payment
Licence fees should be paid in the Management Office between 9.00 am and 9.15 am on the day of trading. Those traders who are expecting to be late must notify the Management Office before 9.15 am and a stall will be held until 9.30 am at the latest. No guarantee can be made on stall allocations.
Trading Hours
The stalls will be available for traders to set up at 7.30 am and traders are required to be ready to trade no later than 10.30 am. Packing up times are as follows:
(a) January – to March 6.00 pm
(b) April to September 6.30 pm
(c) October to November 6.30 pm
(d) December 7.00 pm
Cancellations
Traders who are unable to attend on any particular day must notify the management office at least 2 days in advance so as to give an idea as to availability.
Allocations
The allocations of stalls regardless of previous trading history will be at the sole discretion of the Management.
Saturday trading
• Saturday traders with an allocated stall
To trade on an allocated stall on a Saturday, traders must also have a minimum of two other allocated days. Both days must be traded on in order to keep the allocated Saturday. If one day is missed, on Saturday the trader will be put on the casual ‘A’ list. If both days are missed, on Saturday the trader will be put on the casual ‘B’ list.
• Saturday traders who casual
In order to casual on the casual ‘A’ list on Saturday, a trader must trade a minimum of two days - one day being an allocated day and the other can be an additional casual trading day or another allocated day if one or more day is currently allocated. If a trader misses one day, they will be put on the casual ‘B’ list.
Attendance will be tracked from Sunday to Friday, excluding Mondays. There will be no exceptions to this rule.
Casual Stalls
Names are put on the casual list between 9.00 am and 9.10 am . If for some reason you are late then your name will be placed at the bottom of the list. The list is drawn at 9.15 am within the management office, all payments to be made by 9.30 am at the latest. Barrows will not be available for trading if there are 10 or more vacant stalls on the market.
Carry-overs
Traders on the casual list, who are unsuccessful twice in a row, will be entitled to a carry-over. If you do not accept a stall offered on your carry-over, then you will lose it. Traders on a casual stall or barrow who go home early due to bad weather are not entitled to an extra carry-over or refund.
Loading and car parking
Access to the Piazza may be arranged by prior agreement. Authorised access will be granted before 10.00 am or after 6.00 pm. No facilities exist for the parking of private cars on or around the site and traders are responsible for making their own arrangements with regard to the parking of their own private vehicles.
Animals
Traders are not permitted to keep animals in or by the stalls.
Alcohol
The consumption of alcohol is not permitted on or in the vicinity of the Apple Market other than within licensed premises.
Radios
Radios, tape players and CD players are not permitted at the stalls.
Bicycles etc.
Bicycles, trolleys and other equipment must either be stored out of sight under the stall or should be removed form the Apple Market and legally parked elsewhere.
Inland Revenue
All traders must register with the Inland Revenue for tax and national insurance purposes. Guidance booklets are available from the Management Office or alternatively contact the local enquiry centre on 020 7605 9149. LEGAL NOTICE
The Management reserves the right to add to or amend these rules and advise the traders of any changes. They also reserve the right to vary charges and arrange trade and promotions/events when the stalls will not be available to any traders.
Licences to trade are issued on a daily basis only on such days as the Apple Market is made available for the Arts and Crafts market.
Violation of these rules may result in the refusal of a trading licence to be granted without reimbursement of any fee paid in advance and/or the permanent removal of a trader from the approved list of traders.
